Founded in 1765 by Alfred Heim at Westhalten in the Haut-Rhin region, Bestheim is a family business which today operates 700 hectares of vines with two production sites situated at Benwihr and Westhalten. With more than 200 wine growers who are passionate about their work, Bestheim as an organisation is particularly committed to the preservation of the environment and incorporates this in its everyday activities, both in the vineyards and at the core of its production sites. These include minimal pesticides, selective sorting and recycling of waste, efficient insulation, energy savings, solar heating installation, car-sharing among employees and the selection of suppliers according to their “green” commitment. Over generations, Bestheim has become a benchmark in the world of viticulture and also for the public, awarded with numerous prizes and honors each year, recognizing the excellence of the production of its still and sparkling Alsace wines.

In October 2011, Bestheim announced its merger with the Cave d’Obernai; the newly formed group became the leading Alsatian producer with a production of 18.5 million bottles per year.   This development is in keeping with Bestheim’s strategy to diversify its product range and to accelerate its international expansion.

Maintenance of wine production equipment

At its Benwihr and Westhalten production sites, Bestheim uses a variety of equipment for a wide range of operations; mechanised sorting machines for harvesting, vibrating tables, mixers, decaking apparatus, tanks for storage and fermentation, wine pumps, bottling and labelling equipment... All of these machines and tools require rigorous maintenance throughout the year.

Having previously used a basic maintenance system requiring a great deal of time-consuming manual intervention, Bestheim decided to choose a next-generation solution offering features that could be tailored to its needs and that have the ability to evolve and scale to support the future development of the business.
